Most people are residing a fast-paced life and many of them desire to finish things promptly. I attribute this phenomenon to the advancement of information technology including the internet. Though at first glance wanting things which is done at once can be seen as advantageous in some respects, I am, however, convinced that it is more like to have a detrimental consequence
To commence with, as in the last several decades, the need of humanity has changed significantly because of information technology and internet, most people want things, which is done immediately. The information technology and internet have become more accessible and prompter in individual's daily life. Evidence of this can be seen in any examples. To epitomise, people used to line up in the long queue to purchase tickets for movies in the past, this is, however, not a conceivable case in the present. Individuals book tickets in advance from home through online stores and they can even choose the seats. They can enjoy the movie on the reserved day without waiting. Aside from these examples, people used to send some messages and letters to someone for a long time in the past They are , however, sent promptly owing to the internet and technologies in the present. Consequently, people as a service provider or as a service user have become accustomed to immediate response .
Although the technology has been playing leading role in the making services instantly available, there are both advantages and disadvantages associated with this. The chief merit stemming from it is that it has boosted productivity appreciably. Through programs set up in a systematic way, businesses can handle more deals at one time and consumers can secure their own service in a quick order with reduced time and efforts. As for drawbacks of this phenomenon, if people aspire to finish things immediately, they will be lazy, thereby having lack of activities and exercises among people. Due to lack of activities and exercises, they have health problems such as obesity, nerve diseases and cardiovascular system problems. According to information published in the WHO, just over 30% of people suffer from obesity because of lack of activities and technology. Furthermore, some people are dependent on the technology so much so that they have become impatient. When they have to wait for a service, they often keep requesting faster service or when they cannot have access to the internet through computers or mobile phones, they easily get anxious.
By way of conclusion, an increasing number of people seek instant gratification today. The information technology has nudged people to embrace the fast life. I contend that this technology has brought conveniences to our daily life based on the unprecedented speed and at the same time, it makes people sick and impatient. Thus, though it has some advantages in some respects, I am, however, inclined to say that it is more likely to have drawbacks
