2023-01-10 09:34:14 Intelligence is the most important quality for a leader.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a nearly endless amount of literature on leaders of the past and the present, and for thousands of years, people have disagreed on what skill most certainly turns one into a leader. There is a popular view that intelligence is that very feature, but I believe it is not always the case as there are other qualities that can be more vital.

Intelligence is, in fact, an important quality for people in many fields. Leading scientists, for example, can easily credit intelligence for their success, as it feeds their curiosity and facilitates their working process. Politicians are also the people whose job is synonymous with intelligence, both in terms of having a proper level of IQ and emotional intelligence, as they have to make important decisions under scrutiny. Political leaders, as a rule, are impressively erudite individuals with academic backgrounds, making intelligence the main strength in their biographies.

There are numerous examples of occupations and people that highlight the importance of other qualities, however. Athletes and historical military figures can be used in this discussion. Although intelligence is a benefit for these people too, in the world of sport, for instance, one’s physique and work ethic contribute more to success than intelligence does. Take Jon Jones as an example. He is often referred to as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time but is often criticized for his decisions in daily life. He definitely has the fight IQ, but his physical preparation and DNA played a key role in his career. As for leaders in a war, many people in history will be remembered not for their intelligence but rather for their violent nature and ability to motivate people, which attracted followers at the time.

In conclusion, intelligence is an essential component for many people but cannot be universally referred to as a guarantee for success in leadership.

2023-01-09 21:55:41 What I did to get that 9 on listening:

I have always worked on my general English, revising grammar books and enriching my vocabulary

I did familiarize myself with question types and test format

I tried to expose myself to the English language

I didn't use to listen to podcasts that much, particularly for the sake of improving my listening

I listened to podcasts here and there as they were of my interest and informative

I read books, it was helpful not to make spelling mistakes. Plus reading books makes you concentrated and focused.

I did practice tests from Cambridge 7 till 17. Additionally IELTS trainer 2 every other day.

Finally, I analyzed my mistakes and listened to the audio one more time so that I could know why did I miss the word or what was my mistake.

2023-01-08 21:02:57 In some countries, there has been an increase in the number of parents who are choosing to educate their children themselves at home instead of sending them to school. Do the advantages of home education outweigh the disadvantages?

In certain states, the popularity of homeschooling has been increasing as there are more parents who educate their children at home as an alternative to sending them to public and private schools. Even though there are some advantages of home education, they do not compensate for all drawbacks, meaning formal education must remain a preferred choice.

The reasons why homeschooling is gaining popularity in some countries are obvious. For one, security is a bigger concern in schools now than ever before, and some statistics claim that the number of cases involving kidnapping have been on the rise lately. Because of this, making children study independently at home could be looked at as a safer choice. Secondly, teachers in schools often have a problem when it comes to keeping students disciplined, and for parents, is often, though not always, easier to monitor the activities of their children and make them study harder.

In schools, it is not only education that matters. Communication is a major part which is a must in children’s and teenagers’ lives. To be specific, studying in an actual school involves interacting with peers on a daily basis, which automatically makes it possible for young people to improve their soft skills continuously. Such an environment cannot be guaranteed in households where children and teenagers would talk to the same individuals daily. What makes this worse is that children may not even be interested in views of their parents because of the generation gap.

Curriculum is another major factor why the vast majority of people still study in schools rather than being educated at home. In other words, there is no governing body regulating the quality of education in every household. Parents who educate their children on their own could choose any materials they want, but the adequacy of these materials can be questionable. For example, parents may be mentally ill and expose their children to explicit material that includes dangerous content. However, this cannot happen in a regular school where the curriculum is fixed.

In conclusion, despite some benefits of homeschooling, children worldwide must not be taught at home for reasons related to communication and syllabus. By being sent to schools, the younger generation can be provided with enough communication in a dynamic setting and learning with the help of a reliable curriculum.
