Dear teenagers, 15 year old girls and 17 year old boys, or "blissfully unaware youngsters" of Uzbek Gen Z
Stop romanticizing #surishkerak and living/studying abroad!
"I'm gonna get an IELTS certificate and I'm gonna live in the USA, I'm gonna study in Harvard and I'm gonna be Elon Musk"
Broo,
Wake up. Isn't it kinda weird that you're still being tricked by today's fallacious propaganda?
First things first, you don't have the slightest idea how hard it is to study and reside in another country, it is not what you see in those fancy movies on TV or YouTube. Surprisingly, life is not a Disney Cartoon, it is actually a horror film, kid. You gotta grow up.
Let me tell you why you should learn to look at things from a different angle:
1. IELTS/TOEFL/SAT/GMAT/GRE/LSAT is not a "ticket" to America.
or other countries, it is not something that can lead you from Tashkent International Airport boarding gates to U.S LAX airport. The abovementioned certificates are just a piece of paper which is mechanically required from you to show off your knowledge beyond doubt, meaning that you're eligible and competent to be accepted by a particular educational institution. So, shift your ground and don't think you're gonna study at Stanford once you got a certificate. The process is way too complex.
2. Your parents are not your piggybanks.
Do you know how costly it is to study at those prestigious universities?
Well, let's face the facts.
Uzairways flight ticket from Tashkent to New York is:
$980 = 10 mln 690ming 838 so'm.Imagine you're a full time Harvard student and your university is located 380 kms far away from New York, well you're here.
UNIVERSITY TUITION FEE: $54,768 = 596 mln 835 ming so'm.RENT, UTILITIES, & FOOD:$24,251= 264 mln 307 ming so'm.HEALTH INSURANCE FEES:$5,384 = 58 mln 678 ming.BOOKS & SUPPLIES (includes HGSE Document Fee)
$980 = 10 mln.690 ming so'm.
PERSONAL EXPENSES: $4,825 = 52 mln 601 ming so'm.
TRANSPORTATION: $1,505 = 16 mln 410 ming so'm.
FEDERAL LOAN FEES (U.S. Citizens & Permanent Residents Only):
$216 = 2 mln 355 ming so'm.
TOTAL RESIDENTIAL Ed.M. STUDENT BUDGET
$92,004 = 1,002,836,516 so'm
(Kiymaysizmi, yurmaysizmi, u yoq bu yoqqa bormaysizmi undan tashqari)
If you have a private bank account in Switzerland, go ahead buddy. But can u imagine your parents working like a dog in Uzbekistan just to cover your expenses and make their ends meet?
You have no right.
That is why you can apply for numerous grants and scholarships. Yet, grants are totally competitive and it's one in a million thing to be the chosen one.
Save money from now.
Be independent,
Get a job, you big stupid.
"No, I'm too young to work"
Seriously tho?
Your peers in USA can already afford to buy their own Mustang while being a high school student. Look at yourself.
3. Skills, skills, skills.
The more the better!
If you want to get better job employments to pay your own bills in abroad, make sure you're qualified enough other than being able to speak in that foreign language. What can you do? Selling? Designing? Programming? Cooking? Singing? Creating? Learn more skills so that you won't be a babysitter or a cleaner once you get there.
4.
Be aware of the culture shock!
= (U yer senga enangni uyimas)
Try to learn how to think and see the things globally, not locally, and be adaptable, try to learn how to adjust easily and effortlessly, don't say "Sharmanda" when you see random couples kissing in the middle of the streets of New York, don't say "ibbi o'lay" when you see people wearing too short, too tight, too exposing, too long, too uncomfortable for your eyes or whatever. Don't expect people answering to you politely like in Uzbekistan, be neutral, hide your emotions sometimes, don't expect natives adjusting to your personality, you are the one WHO SHOULD ADJUST, cuz you're an outsider in that society.
I think i managed to explain a few things in detail. This topic will be continued for sure.
World is not your uncle, jo'rajon.
Learn.
Earn.
Then move to wherever the hell you want.
