French Navy Intercept Russian boat in Pas-de-Calais Strait
A Russian commercial boat was intercepted by French authorities in the Pas-de-Calais Strait at 2am Saturday morning, which is suspected of being linked to Russian financial interests targeted by fresh European sanctions.
A 127-meter-long commercial boat was diverted at night after being spotted by the Navy Sea rescuers, who monitor migrant crossings and escorted the boat to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
The vessel apparently came from Rouen and was authorized to sail in French waters, but customs officials will now check the papers of the 20 people on board.
