The Islamic Golden Age refers to a time in Islamic history characterized by great advancements in science, economics, and culture, generally believed to have occurred from the 8th to the 13th century (according to some sources, it continued until the 17th century).

The importance of the Islamic Golden Age is that it helped to lead Europe and the world out of the Dark Ages and into the Renaissance, a time of great artistic, scientific, and cultural achievement.
