Top Ten IELTS Listening Tips
1. Timing - Use your time wisely. Read the questions before you listen to the audio to anticipate what you need to hear.
2. Listen for details - Learn to use your listening skills to listen for details.
3. Accuracy - Always write down exactly what you hear.
4. Focus - Focus as much as you can and avoid getting distracted.
5. Complete all the questions - Always give an answer, as this will give you the best possible chance of a high score.
6. Context - Do not be scared if you do not hear something. Can you work it out according to the context?
7. Listen for gist - Do not try to listen to the recording word for word and focus on every word spoken, but for the answers. Is it measurements? Dates? Days of the week?
8.Timing - Try to answer all the questions. You can review them later.
9. Review - Review any answers you missed out and always mark something, as you may get it right!
10. Proofread - At the end you need to proofread everything and double check your answers as much as possible. This will improve your accuracy.
