Being a teenager is much harder than being an adult. You start to realize what real life is. You think about what kind of responsibilities you will have. You worry about future. You are under an immense amount of stress. But, you should know how to be nice to yourself too.

Here is 14 ways to calm yourself when life is getting tough:

1. Walk: walking helps you a clear mind. It offers a different perspective.

2. Indulge: take a day off to spend a whole day doing exactly what you want.

3. Be generous: give something to a total stranger. Acts of giving make us feel warm and fuzzy inside.

4. Sit in a coffee shop or a busy street and soak up your surroundings. You don’t have to talk to people.

5. Educate yourself: research what you are experiencing. Find out more about its solutions.

6. Preparation: write the day’s to-do list before sleeping.

7. Talk to yourself: talk to yourself positively.

8. Keep going forward: keep taking small steps, no matter what. Being stagnant doesn’t help you.

9. Re-visit an old hobby. If you don’t have a hobby, create one.

10. Prioritize: Decide what is important to you right now. Say no to distractions.
