2022-12-21 11:34:24 How can I be mentally prepared for my IELTS exam?

• Unfortunately, "Mental preparedness" is overlooked by most students (even by teachers). As a result of that, they will end up getting a lower score than they actually deserve. I know a lot of people who had a potential to score 8.0-8.5, but got 7.0 , 7.5 because of being worried, nervous or too excited. Not always, it's about your knowledge. Sometimes, you have to have a strong mentality as well.

Let's go through the steps I took before my exam.

1. Wake up early in the morning (do a little exercise, just go for a walk + listen to nice symphonies).

2. Do breathing exercise. Some people don't really know the power of this exercise. When you do it for 4-5 minutes, you calm down, get rid of any negative thoughts and get ready to start your day with positivity. (You can try this before doing Listening, Reading and Speaking)

3. Visit the Exam Venue before your exam (2-3 days earlier)
Try to climitize there. See around, learn about the rooms. Try to feel relaxed. If possible, do Practice tests or Speaking with your friend there. After that, on your test day, that building won't seem as stressful to you.

4. Think positively. Don't let other people demotivate you by talking about their unsuccessful exam experience (I had this problems which scared me). No, say "NO" those people. Say, they are just losers:)

5. Relax the night before your exam. Meet your friends/relatives, hang out with them and have a lot of fun (+have a good rest)

6. On your exam day, wake up early, take a shower and have good breakfast. It's recommended to eat some chocolate as it sharpens your brain (as they say). Eating fruit is also a good option.

7. Enjoy the PROCESS. While everyone was nervous/stressed, guess what, I was smiling and feeling so happy during the test. Exam experience is the best experience ever. Don't lose that opportunity by being worried about it. Don't do it for the sake of result, do it for pleasure:)
Loving what you do is the key to success:)

• You might be saying: "Well, this guy is just telling what everybody already knows". Yeah, right, but NOT everybody follows. If you want to achieve a good score in IELTS, not only should you have good knowledge, but also you need to be mentally ready for it:)
