Question: In many parts of the world, AI is getting better and replacing humans in many jobs.
Is this a positive or a negative development?
My answer: Today, many people wonder whether AI replacing humans in their jobs is a positive or a negative achievement. Even though AI does not have empathy, it can help create jobs for people as well.
There are a range of fields that AI cannot fully replicate, such as social work or teaching. Although these can be aided by AI in the future, it simply cannot give the empathy that these fields require. We can take an example of the help that that may be given to educators. In particular, it can be a great tool for understanding the varying levels of learners, or their progress. However, teachers will still remain the true masters of discovering students' special interests and providing mentorship.
On the other side of the argument, among AI's biggest benefits, the fact that it can save humans from doing certain tasks repeatedly has to be noted. With AI taking care of the tedious tasks which people don't usually fancy, people can focus on more rewarding projects - or just take some time off for rest. Another major benefit is that AI can possibly create jobs for humans. So, we move from worrying about AI taking the place of humans to actually realize that it is helping humans to get into jobs. As for AI, training, maintenance should be provided nonstop. How do we monitor AI? How do we tarin it? How do we make sure that it is not running amok? These are all the possible jobs that AI can create.
All things considered, it is true that AI is unempathic, but it can help a great number of people to get into jobs. I personally believe that artificial intelligence should be seen as more of a positive development than negative.
