Some people think that organizing international sports events is good for the host country while others think it is bad.
Discuss both views and state your opinion.
There are some people believing that hosting sports championships may place an extra burden on a country’s economy. However, I agree with those who tend to consider that such events bring a number of benefits to the hosting country.
Certain people think that organizing international sports tournaments might be detrimental to the host country, especially, to those which are not financially stable enough to host such events. Hosting countries should build stadiums, hotels to accommodate visitors, and this requires a lot of money. Take World Cup 2022, for example. Qatar that took responsibility for organizing this tournament spent a great deal of money which can be channeled to improve infrastructure: roads, schools, hospitals to name just a few. Qatar is now predicted to suffer from this over expenditure in the years to come.
Others, on the other hand, myself included, feel that hosting sports competitions is of great significance as this brings fame to the host nation. That is why many countries want to host such events that are considered to be a rare opportunity to gain recognition. Another favorable side of this is that many people can be employed to construct needed buildings for the event, as a result of which employment rate of a country becomes higher.
In conclusion, although it has to be admitted that it is not advisable for the developing countries to host such events since it may burden their economy, it is, in my opinion, far more beneficial for those countries having strong economy as this helps them earn some fame, and increase the chance of people in the host country to be hired for the short time.
