Globally, increasingly more youngsters are migrating from affluent nations to impoverished countries for voluntary participation in education or construction. While there are compelling reasons behind this development, I believe that it has a large positive impact on the communities and young volunteers alike.
This trend is driven by a variety of factors. A sense of humanity is an evident driving force. It means that individuals naturally strive to help as many people as possible, especially when they are young and willing to find the meaning of life. Humanitarian projects and volunteer work can be a great source of motivation and personal satisfaction to appeal to those who seek purpose in life. Also, many teenagers are engaging in International volunteer programs for personal gains. More specifically, working in a foreign country as a trainer or a construction worker can enable young people to gain valuable work experience, thus increasing their chances of getting successful in future careers. This is because they do not work under constant pressure from managers while volunteering, which can embolden them to take risks and learn from their mistakes.
In my opinion, both the poor nations and young people gain from this experience. As for the destitute communities, it becomes possible to elevate literacy levels and allow disadvantaged people to obtain an education, thus improving their general quality of life. From a personal perspective, the youth who work for free in economically struggling societies are more likely to attain fulfillment and efficiency than their fellow counterparts. When their peers are occupied with night clubs, alcohol consumption, social media, and sexual activity out of marriage, they teach the poor and build accommodations for the homeless, thus contributing to a nation’s prosperity.
In conclusion, I think that many young people are choosing to volunteer their time and effort in developing countries due to a sense of humanity and an urge for invaluable job experience. Given the personal and social benefits of this experience, I am a strong advocate of its development.
