Does today's world still value a liberal arts education?Students have overlooked liberal arts education for several years due to increasing interest in STEM education, making liberal education less demanding and somewhat obsolete. Still, this tendency should be changed. Not only do computer science students learn mathematics, programming languages, data structures, and algorithms, but they also should consider taking courses related to humanities, such as history, philosophy, and psychology, since liberal education makes students find answers to thought-provoking questions. After obtaining liberal arts education, students can see things from a new perspective, think critically, and write compelling narratives. Liberal education components are considered enhancers, and expert knowledge is the primary factor for a lucrative career.
Reading fundamental texts is one of the requirements in liberal arts colleges, yet this activity seems questionable to universities in the Post-Soviet region. As a result, graduates lack solid communication skills and often need help finding well-paid jobs. Regrettably, most young people nowadays prefer self-help books to classic literature books, hoping to enlighten themselves.
Taking a variety of courses gives a sense of freedom. Admitted students can take linear algebra and creative writing or ponder other combinations. Notably, it isn't an arduous task to pick peculiar courses. Liberal arts education provides an effective skill set that could be applicable everywhere. Moreover, liberal arts colleges prepare their students well for graduate-level course load since they focus on class participation, writing academic papers, and careful analysis. Despite any predictions about future jobs, liberal arts education is considered a savior for people living in the rapidly changing labor market.
