In recent years, it has been far more normal for people to seek employment opportunities abroad than ever before. In my view, the potential drawbacks of this trend are much greater than the beneficial effects.
Seen in a positive light, working far away from home allows for deeper concentration. As people live without their friends and family members, they can spend more time and energy to sharpen their professional skills and fulfil their job responsibilities, which leads to promotions and a successful career after all. Another glaring advantage of working overseas in contrast to living and working in a local company or organization has to do with finances. The majority of globally prestigious institutions and wealthy companies are based in advanced countries, and they usually pay exorbitant salaries to their employees, especially those who come from foreign nations.
I, however, would attach greater importance to the negative outcomes of foreign employment. Although people who work abroad can achieve higher job progression and monumental success in the workplace, barely can they enjoy their success when they tend to miss their loved ones and struggle to assimilate into a new culture. In fact, they tend to experience feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and even depression in the worst case scenario. The money they earn might create a possibility of leading a luxurious lifestyle, but this often comes at the expense of marital and parent-child relationships. Having moved to another country in search of better job prospects, people may fail to raise happy and academically successful children, as well as failing to build a closer bond with their partners. This, in turn, results in broken homes and broken individuals.
In conclusion, though living in a foreign environment for employment can yield professional and financial benefits, its ramifications, including mental and relational problems, are impossible to ignore and prove more significant.
