Biden administration buys 10 million courses of Pfizer Covid treatment pill in $5 billion deal
Joe Biden said Thursday the U.S. has bought 10 million courses of Pfizer's Covid treatment pill Paxlovid. "My administration is making the necessary preparations now to ensure these treatments will be easily accessible and free," President Joe Biden said in a statement. In a clinical trial of high-risk adults, Paxlovid demonstrated 89% efficacy in preventing hospitalization and death when taken within three days of symptom onset, according to Pfizer.
Biden said delivery of the pills will start at the end of this year and continue through 2022.
