Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich Steps Aside at Chelsea
After almost two decades as owner of the London club, Abramovich is relinquishing stewardship and passing it on to Chelsea's charitable foundation.
The move comes after Russia's operation in Ukraine put into question the future of some Russians in the UK, and potential sanctions against him that could have impacted on the club.
“I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC.
I believe that currently they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans”.
