Millions of Argentines flooded onto the streets of Buenos Aires on Tuesday to celebrate the country's World Cup victory. According to reports from local media, four million people crowded downtown Buenos Aires. With so many fans in the area, the players who had been on an open-top bus were forced to take a helicopter to continue the celebrations. Fans were seen holding banners of Lionel Messi and late icon Diego Maradona, playing instruments, and climbing lamp-posts to get a better look at the players. The government even declared Tuesday a national holiday to allow fans to celebrate the win.
