Overall, it is clear that the number of enquiries made in person and by telephone went up significantly at the second half of the span whereas written ones experienced a downward trend. Interestingly, almost twice as many queries were received at the end of the period as they were at the start.

As for the details, in the first three months, all three trends witnessed moderate changes. The telephone enquiry figure grew to 1000 in March after going down by 100 initially. Similarly, the figure for in-person requests, which was little over 400 in January, saw a substantial rise of about 600 enquiries. In contrast, the number of text enquiries started off at just below 800 and then began to gradually decline to around 600 enquiries by the end of March.

Focusing on the second half of the period, letters and emails received by the office kept falling, reaching an all-time low of just below 400 in May, after which it remained stable for the rest of the period. The other forms of requests followed similar trends. The number of telephone enquiry maintained the same level, at 1000 in the first part of April, and then it climbed to 1600 in the following months. Finally, in person requests almost doubled by June, peaking at 1900 enquiries.

Overall, both the supply and demand for oil increased throughout the span covered. It is also clear that while the figure for the former was higher than the latter up until around 1993, the reverse was true for the remaining period.

In detail, at the beginning, exactly 2 million barrels of oil were produced in China, whereas slightly fewer barrels were consumed. After 4 years, while the daily production capacity rose by 1 million barrels, amounting to 3 million barrels, the consumption rate saw a negligible growth. However, by about 1993, the production line had converged with that of consumption at a 3-million-barrel-a-day mark.

The figures continued to grow. Although the rate of production was steady, growing by about a mere 0.1 million barrels every 4 years till 2006, the figure for consumption increased significantly, finishing the period at just over 6 million barrels. This figure was almost 2 times higher than the number of barrels produced.

Overall, while the number of male smokers per 1000 people declined over the period studied, that of women generally increased. It is also clear that throughout the span, the gap in smoking rates between both genders shrank and had almost converged by the final year.

In detail, by far the biggest rate of smoking was observed among males in the initial year, at 600 smokers per 1000 people. In stark contrast, the figure for their female counterparts was slightly more than 6 times lower. The rate of the former gradually fell up until 1975 (to 500 smokers out of 1000 people), whereas that of the latter reached its peak with about one in three women smoking.

After 1985, the trends for both genders witnessed noticeable declines, and by the end of the period the counts for male and female smokers were approximately 250 and 200 per 1000 people, respectively.
