In many parts of the world, children are spending more and more of their time indoors. Why is this the case? What measures can be taken to handle this problems?Due to the spread of internet and parental inadequacy, it has been more common to see children spend longer hours at home. Despite the compelling reasons behind this issue, I believe that parental and governmental intervention can encourage minors to spend enough time outdoors.The driving force behind this issue may be the development of internet resources. As children have a variety of platforms and applications for video games and virtual communication, they rely on the internet as a place of entertainment and online bonding,
rather than socializing or enjoying outside. For example, the average American child spends beyond 8 hours on their smartphones daily. Another valid reason is a lack of parental supervision.
The majority of adults have already prioritised their career advancement over their childcare responsibilities, thus failing to encourage their offspring to walk outside and increase their physical activity.Nevertheless, there are feasible ways in which this issue can be dealt with. First, parents should tightly control their children and limit their device use. This can be accomplished through simple forms of punishment and rewarding alike. As a result, teenagers would start making friends and seeking enjoyment in the real world as opposed to social media. However, given this is unlikely to happen when parents are totally focused on their job prospects, governments should introduce legislation to reduce working hours and promote maternal leave.
This, in turn, can enable adults to share more time with their offspring travelling and bringing children out of their sedentary lifestyles. The sooner these measures get implemented, the better benefits children will gain.
In conclusion, although the development of social media platforms and video games are driving the childhood inactivity, through parental and governmental efforts, this situation can be improved.@IELTS_road_9
