At least 14 killed at annual bikers’ carnival in Nigeria's Calabar
At least 14 people were killed, including women and children, and over 20 others injured after a vehicle rammed into a crowd of onlookers at a popular bikers’ carnival in Calabar on Tuesday.
Footage captured on Wednesday shows grieving family members of the victims outside the University of Calabar teaching hospital, where many of the injured are receiving treatment.
The driver is said to have lost control of his car and ploughed into the crowd before fleeing the scene, local media said.
According to reports, Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade has urged security agencies to apprehend the suspect, who is believed to have been drunk at the time of the incident.
