The line graph illustrates the percentage of population aged 6 | English With Hardin

The line graph illustrates the percentage of population aged 65 and above in three countries namely Japan, Sweden and USA in the years between 1940 and 2040.

Overall, it is clear that there will be only an increase in the proportion of 65-year-old people in all three countries. Although the percentage of 65-year-old people in Japan was the lowest on the chart in the begining, the figure, however, will reach a peak over the period.

In 1940, the figure for Japanese 65-year-old people was the lowest on the chart, accounted for only 5%. This continued to decline until about 1985, reaching approximately 2.5% - 3%, then started to grow, and is expected to reach a peak of about 27% by the year 2040.

Turning to the population of Sweden and USA who are 65 and over, both countries resulted nearly similar growth, reaching from about 7% to 14% and from about 9.5% to 15% respectively by the year 1980. There will be an increase of nearly 13% in the figure for Americans aged 65, whereas this figure for Sweden will rise to approximately 25% from the begining to 2040.
