So far in 2023, I have taken the IELTS test a total of three times with the BC (all were CDI tests)

1) Jan 15
L 9 R 9 W 8 S 8.5 (= 8.625)

P.S the writing score for this test was changed from 7 to 8 following an EOR (which took 21 days)

2) Jan 25
L 8 R 9 W 8.5 S 8.5 (= 8.5)

You may remember the memes from that day

3) February 12
L 9 R 9 W 7.5 S 9 (= 8.625)

On February 12th, having previously scored 8.0 and 8.5, I was hoping to further improve my writing score, thus finally securing that desired 9.0. I was even more confident in my ability to score straight 9s in all four sections after my speaking test, but my writing score was unexpectedly marked as 7.5.
I immediately appealed my writing score, but the outcome came back in just two days stating that my score had remained unchanged. While I still have faith in the IELTS test's credibility to award candidates their deserving scores, I can't help but feel like I hit a "glass ceiling" preventing certain nationalities from achieving the elusive band 9.0.
However, I refuse to be disheartened and believe that by breaking through this glass ceiling, I can lay the foundation for future generations of IELTS instructors to “AIM FOR THE HIGHEST”.
